Opening? Locked? Who or What Holds the Key?

COM 499 Students spend a significant part of class asking about "doors" on campus today -- this is consistent with both the pragmatic nature of Communication Studies and our tradition of social justice, community service, and engaged scholarship. International Experiences
Mackenzie Wanagel and Wujie Liu (Spring 2013) examine the experiences of international students at UA, from off-campus cultural transitions to on-campus academic experiences.
Sports at UA
Chase Swims (Spring 2013) reflects on his family's longtime ties to dirt track car racing and explores a hidden hero of nearly all-white NASCAR.
UA Greek System
During Spring 2013, Jenna Wilson and Sara Tedford (Spring 2013) explore dynamics related to diversity within sorority houses, from decisions whether to pledge to all-white residents interacting with all-black staff.

Sarah Catherine Barlow and Ryan Snyder contribute pamphlets aimed at increasing cooperation among Greek houses and attracting diverse recruits to the rush process.
UA Safe Zone
Katherine Lisciani, Austin Gaddis, and Katherine Kilcoyne (Spring 2013) designed a custom version of the UA Safe Zone training to enhance LGBTQ awareness within Greek houses
